Ikram is a strong, resilient, creative woman who really enjoys learning new things. She survived four wars in her home country of Iraq and arrived in Australia as a refugee in 2003. Shortly after their arrival in Australia, her husband passed away, leaving her alone to care for their three young daughters in a new country
Ikram describes living in a constant state of stress-response for the majority of her life and not being able to enjoy her life with daughters due to the adversity she endured. Now in her 60s, Ikram is working with her daughter Naba to understand what love is and how they can build it into their lives. They are learning how to love and how to express love. They are learning how to love Aayah (Ikram’s granddaughter) and how to enjoy the glorious years of her childhood. Ikram is allowing herself to enjoy life, enjoy love and enjoy Aayah’s childhood for the first time in her life. We are so proud of Ikram for opening her heart to love and connection and allowing herself to enjoy life and enjoy love.
